Error in RTF to Epub conversion

I am trying to convert rtf to epub using Calibre 0.8.5 and i am running into a problem.

Calibre creates the index.xhtml with a space on line 4 between
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">

and

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"

When checked using epubcheck it returns a warning which makes it impossible to submit the file to Lulu and other.

Any way to change that during the conversion process in Calibre?

Someone more knowledgeable in these matters will have to confirm, but in many cases, it turned out that Calibre's output was conforming to standards and the errors found by the various checking tools were errors made by the tools. In these cases, the developers have always refused breaking Calibre's output.
