Book closed after charging

I don't know if anyone else has seen this problem - can't find it mentioned. If I charge my 650 when in the middle of a book, when I take it off the charger, it opens as though I'm not reading anything. I have to go find my book again. Once I do, it opens where I left off, so it isn't a BIG problem - but it is annoying. Especially when I'm gobbling my way through a series containing a lot of books and can't remember which one I'm on.

Is there a solution to this, does anyone know?

Are you charging from a computer USB? It always does that to me when I connect to the computer, but not when I charge via an adapter.

As elcreative suggests, I always bookmark and back out of my book whenever I connect to my computer.

You don't need to bookmark. When you unplug the reader from the computer, you'll be taken to the home screen. The first/top row is the book you were last reading. When you tap that it'll take you to where you left off.

No, that is my point - that is exactly what it does not do. It shows a blank in the topmost "row", then a row of 3 unread books, then all the other menu stuff. To get to the book I'm reading, I must select "see all", find my book in the list of books and open it from there - then it opens to the last page read. But it does not display on the home screen after I unplug.

Is there a setting for this? I'm interested that some of you are having the same experience and others are not.

What adapter do you use? I feel that Sony's wall charger is too expensive, and am wondering if anything else would work.

I use a blackberry charger. My son had an extra charger [having had so many different blackberries]. It works flawlessly ...

I bough mine through Amazon.co.uk - £3.95 (approximately $6.50). Have you checked Amazon.com, as I'm sure there must be one cheaper than the Sony available.

Other than that check out eBay.

There's a long thread about which various adapters have worked for people. For me, the adapter for my LG Rumor Touch phone works perfect.

Found 2 threads where people posted various adapters that work:

I use my Droid X adapter and my nook adapter. Sometimes I even use my car charger for the Droid X to charge my Sony. All work great.

My 950 has done this a couple of times. Every time, when I go to the list of books and sort them by "latest read" the book I was reading is at the top of the list and opens to the page I was on. Since it doesn't happen often, I don't think it's a big deal.

I actually use a 4-port plug-in adapter that I found at ThinkGeek.

When you unplug it from the computer, do you eject it? I vaguely remember the last book I was not appear on the first row once when I forced an eject of the device. It had some other book listed first instead. That only happened once, though, and I've never had the last read section be blank.

To quickly find your book: 'See All->' and sort 'By Latest Read'.
