The 75 Books Every Man Should Read-and a Womanly Response
Like literary fiction but can't figure out what to read next?
Esquire.com has re-posted a list of the 75 books every man should read . LINK People took a look at the list of these "Essentials" and took exception to the fact that all but one were written by men. Joyland, a website focused on short fiction, posted their own list of "250 Books By Women All Men Should Read" LINK The lists are mostly literary fiction, with a few nonfiction titles. If your TBR list is getting a bit low, you would do well to go through these two lists . |

Websites get paid by the page visit. I refuse to even look at most slide shows. But, if you select "Print" then you get them all on one page (for printing).

I got about 1/3 of the way through the slideshow when I detected a pattern: most are ones
I have no interest in reading, and the few listed I'd read, I hadn't liked. |

Such lists are interesting, but they always carry some personal bias I think as well. People don't recommend books that they themselves don't enjoy after all.

a number of books i didn't care for, and some more i chose not to read.
and yet, out of the clear blue, is one of my favorite books of all time - winter's tale by mark helprin. |
