Help... can't register my new Edge

Hello folks.... First time poster, just joined the community and just received my Edge.

I'm having a problem registering that I have not seen listed anywhere. I've checked search and don't see this issue listed among those that people have when trying to register. Perhaps my problem is just due to my unfamiliarity with the device. Anyway, the Edge went through the download/update process fine, I calibrated the reader screen, I accepted the terms and conditions (don't recall if it was all in that order), and at some point I got to the registration screen.

When I tried to 'click' in the various fields to enter my name, etc., I did not get an online keyboard where I could enter characters. Nothing happened. So, I skipped registration and completed everything else.

My Edge is now ready to use (it says) so I went back to try to register after. I have found the registration screen again but I have the same problem... if I tap in the various fields, I can see the cursor move to the field, but no matter if I tap with finger or stylus, single tap or double tap, I don't get a keyboard and so I can't enter any information.

What am I doing wrong? Suggestions?

I just went back to see if I could fiddle around with it some more and now it says "Checking reader application status" with a swirling thingie that looks like it's working. The registration screen is unavailable and it's been doing that 'checking' thing now since I posted the above.

Maybe try resetting the device. Use a paperclip to press the Reset button on the top left edge of the eInk side. Then try registering again.

I wish I would have read this earlier to even know there was a reset button... I wasted Tech Support's time because I had what I thought was a serious issue and all it needed was a reset

Umm, I don't think such a button exists on my device. I've looked it over and there's a hole up there. I did put a paperclip in there, but there was no (button) feedback. I then peeked in there and can see solid surface. Upon reading the manual, I see there's a way to restore the device to Factory Settings i.e. delete data, etc. via software, but not a physical button as far as I can see anywhere.

Resetting via software did yield me the ability to now gain access to the on-screen keyboard, but I am still having trouble registering. I now have a Code 02, with Adobe telling me my email is already registered with a different password. I'll try from my computer and see if I can learn what that is.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

It is not clear to me if you have the pocket edge or the full-sized version (sorry if I missed it somewhere).

The full-size version won't have a paperclip reset... instead, just pop the battery out and then pop it back in.

Sorry unclear. No not the Pocket Edge, the regular big one. I have now reset my password with Adobe so I know for sure what it is. I'm off to a meeting but will try later to register again.

Sorry for assuming you had the Pocket eDGe. Originally the registration wizard was just on the PE (and later added to the EE, too), hence my assumption.
