Dataviz released a Docs2Go update, but should/can we install it?

Dear all,

While playing around with my beloved edge I noticed that if I press the gearwheel below right and then do a "Check for updates". (Then check with the default browser). I get a page at dataviz saying

"There is a free maintenance update available to version 3.0010"

And then there is a clickable link saying:
"Download now"

Now first of all, I really dont know what is fixed in this update and whether we should bother at all trying to install this, but my main question is.. can we? Or shouldnt we try.

The version installed on my edge is 3.000d (823). And I have all the latest updates applied, dingo wise.
hmmmm... forbidden fruit!

Disclaimer: if you brick your edge applying this update (unlikely but anyhow), don't blame me. I wish there was an imaging tool for the edge so I could try and rollback if necessary.

You can email techsupport@entourageedge.com and see what they say. The Docs2Go on our eDGe is effectively bundled (free of charge to us) so not sure what installing a version direct from the vendor would do.

enTourage could easily include the update in the next patch for the eDGe.

They did this before, so I wait.
And Boris, congratulations! You are over 1000 again!

If you check for updates directly from DocstoGo you will led to page with an update specific for the edge bundle; and a download link.

I assume you mean in the DocsToGo app on the eDGe. That page shows the maintenance update, and near the bottom of the page a "Please Select" link beside "Device". However, the subsequent page only lists "Android" in general, not the eDGe specifically.

Can you post the URL that has the eDGe bundle link?

To update your DocsToGo software on the eDGe, open the app, then click on "Menu," then choose "Settings." The next menu will offer the option to "Check for UPdates. Click on that link, then you'll see a link for the eDGe-specific update. Click on it and the apk should download. You'll of course need to click on the download icon in the rooftop to actually install the update.

We're looking at the same page, then. Because of the long URL in the address bar I didn't realize it had "eDGe" in it near the end.

So the correct answer to mduijkers original question is "go ahead - it's safe"

I'm doing the update now. Safety check: ensure the file being downloaded says "documentstogo-entourage_3.001.832.apk" (note the "entourage").

Hmmm. Installed okay on my large eDGe. However, on my Pocket eDGe, it says it "could not be installed on your eDGe"...

Here are the release notes: http://support.dataviz.com/support.s...tourageBundle1. I think all of the items were already in the release we had (which was build 823 while this update is 832), so I suspect there were only bug fixes (which aren't detailed).

Makes sense. I'd already done the update the release notes describes a couple of weeks ago. So this latest one is likely bugs fixes.

I think the download is safe. The site seems to recognize this is for the Edge.

When I click on Download Now on the eDGe the next page has a link that says, "Download DXTG Full Word, Excel, PPT & PDF for Entourage Android Bundle"

It appeared to install OK on the eDGe.

Updating (the real edge) worked like a charm and took only a couple of minutes.
