Linux is about community development. Give us the Beta/Alpha. We can make it better.

I dont know if any of you who run EE have experience in the Linux community, but its NOT like doing business in the world of WIndows or Apple. Things work differently around here. Open source is a big deal, and people choose Linux because Linux can be hacked. We love hackable devices.

I dont know if any of you are gammers, but there is a company called Bethesda....Their games are awesome...expansive, open ended...real choices and interactivity make you feel like its virtual reality despite 2006ish graphics.....still, they have some of the biggest cult following of any game developers despite not being the absolute most cutting edge in the graphics or physics department....Why? The modding community. The game itself is fun, like any other, much more gameplay than others in its class BUT there is literally a thousand times as much content created by the modding community. People are still playing the same game, 5 to 10 years later and loving it. Modders without the help of the company, for free, upgraded the old game from the previous decade to work with the modern graphics of the recent release....Its amazing. All user created.

You are not tapping into a valuable resource. There is no community here...Not like a Linux community.

There used to be huge hacking communities devoted to the old HTC Mogul....not really up to todays standards, but until recently still had a huge following because there was a community of hackers devoted to developing content, and other newer more powerful phones didnt have that community of hackers behind it offering their hacks.


Edge needs that kind of cult following to survive with its dated hardware and resistive touch screen and lack of functional video support, even for the advertised supported video formats....thats a big one. We need to be able to watch a video that is any size or resolution, at least in the formats that you advertise.....and you need to be able to play them from the SD card, not just from the library or internal SSD.

You dont have to do all of this yourself. There is a window of time where you could release the beta and get some modders rooting for you....You are about to miss your window and fade into irrelevancy.
