Android boingo wifi apk - troubleshooting

Boingo sent me the Android apk, which admittedly has not been tested on the edge, so I could see whether I could get it to work.

I've tried installing both versions on the edge (one is "no maps", not sure what that means) but both are giving me the error message "cannot be installed on your edge." I think I've gotten this message before on apps that other people have actually got working on their machines, so I wondered whether anyone wanted to try out the apk files and see whether it works for them.

I'm working on FTPing these files to a site for download (Boingo said it was OK to share the files with other edgers) but everything's a little slow as I do things for the first time on the egde. In the mean time, just send me a private message here, an email, or a shout on twitter if you want the apks emailed to you. Then, I'd appreciate your feedback so I know whether it's just me, or whether the file isn't working.

I found this info on an old blog about Boingo "Our client for Android phones is now available! This client will help you identify and log into hotspots with your boingo mobile account, and includes a new GPS-based hotspot locating system." I think this may be the problem, there is no GPS on the edge.

Thanks Cheyenne, I'll mention the GPS thing to them.

EDIT: that was an amazingly helpful comment. I asked them over twitter whether they have a version of the Android client that does not rely on wifi, and they said they think they do and are hunting it down for me right now!

If it works, I'll update the files above and share in the apk thread.
