To the best of my knowledge there is not an app yet for Android, if you found one can you share the link?

NetFlix and Android: Together at Last--Kinda. NetFlix finally found the droid it was looking for! Sadly, not all droids are welcome--yet. It only works on a select few so far, but if you want to try the leaked APK, you can find it here. I'll be trying it out later today.

I already tried. Downloaded the APK to my phone and moved it to my PE via Dropbox. Didn't work. As far as I know, it needs the full version of Flash for Android, which won't install.

Any other ideas out there?

I haven't given this a try, yet, as I haven't permanently rooted my PE, but someone out there might want to: http://lifehacker.com/5801720/how-to...android-device

Unable to get Netflix to work using either HTC or Nexus. I can launch the app just fine, but when I try to watch a movie I still get the unsupported device message. Sometimes it even crashes after logging in.

Note, this is temp rooting via z4root.

Edit: That's HTC and Nexus ro.product.model / manufacturer

I tried, too, with z4root. I used the HTC Vision model/mfr and got as far as the login screen. I couldn't even see a listing of my movies after logging in--sounds like you did, ClosedEyesSeeing?

I had found 2 separate Netflix APKs while trying to get it working:

This one get's me to my queue and browsing:
Kinda Works

If anyone has any other ideas, I'm all ears. I'll keep pecking away at it, see what I can do.

Edit: My server seems to be somewhat handicapped and is trying to serve the APK in text form. You may need to right-click and download.

Does this http://androidcommunity.com/leaked-n...agic-20110513/ give any new information?

Sounds a bit too complicated for me, but I hope some of you can get it working!

Haven't tried Filark's last suggestion (don't want to mess with a rooted PE until I know more about it). BUT -- the Netflix app (Version 1.0.1 build 691773-1.1.0-49) loaded for me, let me add titles to my instant queue (it had no knowledge of my DVD queue), resume the movie I was watching on my PC --- BUT didn't actually show any video. Gave me the message, "The Netflix service is not available on your device. Please check the Netflix website at netflix.com/NetflixReadyDevices for information regarding support for your device."

Those are the exact steps I've taken thus far. :-\

Also working on trying to get Netflix through PlayOn. Let you know if I make any advancement there.

I haven't tried all of this yet (app crashes after login), but lifehacker has an article on getting Netflix to run on almost any android device.
http://lifehacker.com/5801720/how-to...android-device
EDIT: Don't bother trying this. It doesn't work for the Pocket Edge.

A slightly easier method than the lifehacker method worked for my Droid-X:

http://getandroidstuff.com/download-...droid-devices/

I had to use the "mod2" for crashes after login. It will let me manage the queue, but like with other people, streaming does not work. I get "Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problem persists please visit netflix.com".

DRM Problems

I've been fiddling around with Netflix for the past couple days. From what I understand, the motion picture companies have required Android devices to have a hardware-based DRM system because of the openness of the platform. As such, it is only working on certain devices. Unfortunately, this means we might never get Netflix to work on the Edge devices because of their weird Marvell processors.

You might consider watching to see if the xda community can devise some kind of solution to the DRM problem. As just another note, my friend has a G-tab, and he has managed to get it to work despite having a Tegra 2 processor (which, apparently, doesn't have any hardware-based DRM capabilities). However, some people with different custom ROMs have been having similar problems getting Netflix to work. This leaves me with some hope that it is just a matter of time before the tech wizards fix the problem.

I've been working on getting Netflix to work through PlayOn with UPNP/DLNA service browsers. I can get to the streaming portion of netflix this way, but I cannot find a player for the Edge to play the mpg format the service generates on the PC. If anyone has recommendations, I'm open to them. If I solve it, I'll be sure to post it here.
