I was going to buy an edge...

...but after waiting for almost a year for the **** thing to arrive in the UK ive given up... i will be looking for another e-book reader from a company that actually cares about those of us from the other side of the water.

sad its had to come to this, i really liked what you were offering, but i cannot drag my heels any more, and im sure there are other companies out there that are actually willing to sell to us Brits.

Good bye

I don't know if you have seen this..
www.entourageedge.nl (but I don't think the site is in english which could be interesting...)
or
www.entourageedge.info. (which is also not in english....) but i'm sure there might be a way to change the language.
anyways. this probably isn't very helpful, but on the off chance you speak... i think it's german... then you might be in luck!
try contacting the sales team directly. They may be able to give you an idea of how when the device will be available.

Both sites are in Dutch, but even if you don't speak/read Dutch, you don't really need to. Everyone under the age of 45 and nearly all business people in the Netherlands speak at least passable English. Besides, if you already know about the eDGe, you don't need the details. You just want to be able to order one and have it shipped to you.

The sites Kelso mentioned are not german, but dutch. You can order the eDGe in the Netherlands for instance at ebookreaderstore.nl. They do ship outside Holland by DHL. There are also possibilities in Belgium and German. I don't know why it is not for sale in the UK.

I suspect the restrictions on release to certain countries have more to do with the need to provide technical support to buyers in those countries.

Of course, the Edge has only been available anywhere for five months, so it's a bit odd for the original poster to say he's been waiting a year for its UK release.

www.entourageedge.nl is not an official reseller of our product. It's a website that has merely copied our information and gave the website in a different skin. I believe there is an "Information" part of the site that will redirect you to our site if you try to buy from it.

EDIT: This is wrong. www.entourageedge.nl is an official reseller with inventory. My apologies

a very strange case. i can't undestand it. even if youorder it in the US through some of those special companies like USunlocked, you'll get your device within a couple of weeks. Tops! so waiting a year is something you did yourself, unfortunately. since a couple of months it is for sale in the Netherlands and they also ship to th UK.

it's just not your day. week or year. sorry to hear that.

I suspect that the real reason -- warranty. When ordering throw third-party-shipping-service your warranty is very limited (no returns, no tradein, no low cost small fixes). So you'll need to be ready just to loose money when buying in country which doesn't have official service centers or distributors.
