WiFi hardware/software de-activation to extend battery time

Use of hardware switch to deactivate wifi also disconnects bluetooth headset.
Software deactivaton of wifi allows user to listen to music, downloaded podcasts, etc.
....so no real problem.

Just a point of interest. Advantage/disadvantage of either??

Haven't been on aircraft in 20 yrs. Reason did not occur to me.
