eDGe PhoneHome?
Are there any Android apps that will allow the eDGe to "phone home" in case the mothership takes off without it and leaves it on the A train to Brooklyn?

Everything I know about currently depends on GPS or needs a phone number to activate by text message. The prey project http://preyproject.com/ had plans to develop a stand alone/activated from the web module, but I have not seen it yet. Contact Owner will let you put information on your Home Screen and hope for the best. http://code.google.com/p/contactowner/
