iheartradio

I was pleased to find out today that my favorite local radio station was available for live streaming through the iheartradio Android app. Nice app. Works well in the background.

Direct download from their website (www.iheartradio.com/droid) is possible with Skyfire (see thread) set to browse as Android. The eDGe default browser and Dolphin get the usual "device not supported" message.

It runs in a small window and that may be fine for most people since you just get it going and leave it in the background. But it is easier to use full screen, naturally, and I was able to successfully convert it with ChrisF's converter program. (Note: I ran zipalign after conversion. Going without that step probably won't lead to problems -- it's mainly a RAM usage optimization thing. ChrisF has stated that the next version will do this automatically.)

The only problem was not connecting to any stations after I installed the full screen version (unaltered version connected immediately). A reboot of the eDGe "solved" whatever that was. Maybe it just needed a reboot after uninstallation of the unaltered version in order for the full screen install to work properly.

The streaming quits after around twenty minutes and won't restart, with any station, until reboot. Ideas, anyone? It works so well otherwise I'd hate to give it up.

Thanks, but every local radio station I've tried there require Flash or Silverlight to play. A Top-40 pop station in Greece may work (looks like maybe). Unfortunately that's not what I'm interested in (local news, traffic, etc.). Ah well.

borisb, I thought you meant listening via the RadioTime website in the Android browser. I only just now stumbled upon the RadioTime APK thread, tried it out, and found that it works very nicely. Thanks!
