Google Alerts

Hi all,

I've searched both here and on Google to try and find an answer to this, but haven't had any luck yet, hopefully someone can help!

I'm trying to find a recipe to fetch a google alerts rss feed, however it requires my google username and password so isn't working. I've tried looking at writing my own, but currently coding my own recipe seems a bit beyond me!

I plan to set this up with a fair few alerts, so if anyone can suggest/produce a template where i can just specify the rss link and my username password and repeat for as many as required that would be great. I have a test feed if this helps:

http://www.google.com/alerts/feeds/1...30799396366273

If i've managed to miss this on the forum then a pointer towards the relevant thread would be greatly appreciated,

Jon

You should look at the builting google reader recipe, probably the login code can be copied from that.

I think I was the last to work on that code (only the login part). I'll answer any questions he may have.

Awesome, thanks for getting back to me guys. I hadn't thought to search for Google Reader rather than alerts, having tried that it is working as I hoped, thank you for your pointers and apologies for not looking a bit harder!

I have one other recipe I would like to get working, although have no idea how to sort it out, so if you could help that would be great. I have an RSS feed but again a username/password is required.

In this case it is for a subscription to Jane's Defence Weekly (RSS: http://jdim.janes.com/rss/rss-feed.jsp?feed=jdw). If I put this into the standard rss recipe creator it compiles a list of articles as I would like, however each article is the Jane's login page instead of the actual article.

I expect I have to insert a bit of code to autofill my username and password each time it collects an article, but cannot work out how to code this?

Thanks again for any help,
Regards,
Jon
