Importing news

I'm not sure if this is where I would post but I'd like to make a suggestion for future Calibre versions. Would it be possible to have scheduled news download without having to open Calibre first? So that I could download all the papers I want to read before I get up?

I love Calibre and it works great.

Thanks

Something has to be running to do the download!

Note that you can use the Calibre command line tools to download news and then use your systems scheduler to run these at a specified time without loading the main Calibre program. Details on how to do this are in the User Guide, but it does require a little knowledge on how to set up this type of operation. Doing this does, however, mean that you need to leave the PC concerned switched and running, so there may not be much advantage over simply leaving Calibre loaded and running in the background.

There are several threads on how to use task scheduling together with the CLI tools to download (and, if needed, email) news automatically. Search for "ebook-convert recipe", that should find at least some of those.
