New Library!
I went on my school's website to pull up a numbered map of the campus buildings and I wasn't sure about a particular building so I pulled up the satellite view on bing.com. As I was assessing the best parking lot to use, I noticed that the library didn't seem to be in the right place, so I zoomed a little closer..... Lo and behold!!! We have a brand NEW Library!!!

One of the reasons I never went to the library before was because I didn't think it would conducive as a good place to study, but now?!! I can only assume that it's a great place to study! The funny thing is, I remember seeing construction on that side of the campus a while back, but didn't think anything of it. I do think it's odd that I haven't seen any signs announcing that we were getting a new library. Even when I went on the library website, I can't find any information about it. Bizarre, don't you think?? However, I did find a press release stating that they're beginning and "E-reader expansion program." They are lending out Kindles, Nooks and Sony ereaders. The announcement was dated Dec 8, 2010. I can understand the Sonys and Nooks, but it sounds like they've been lending out Kindles all of this time?? Interesting....

Well, I found out today that the reason that they had to build an whole new library is because the old one had a huge mold problem. The building is still there, but they had to get rid of almost all of the books for fear of re-contamination. That's the second brand new library built since I moved here 5 years ago and they just happen to be the 2 that I frequent most. And I just read that it's a LEED building!! How great is that?!!!

meh, i wish our university spent more on more recent books xP they have tons of academic stuff, though....ew
