books not showing in library
 I had 5000 books in library! had not mess with calibre for while computer said there was up date available so i said update! then says no books in library hope i did not louse 5000 books!! my wife will be hard to live with!!!! i need help to find and retrieve them

Updating won't delete your library. Click the Library icon and click "Switch / Create". Click the folder icon to the right of new location text entry. Find you're old library. Click Okay. The hardest part is going to be finding you're old library.

Search your computers' hard disks for a file called metadata.db. The folder it is in will be the library folder (there may be more than one, if so, just check each folder until you find your library). Then proceed the way user_none said.
