How to speed up "Downloading Metadata/Covers"?

My calibre always took about 5 minute or so every book. Why is that?

The metadata and covers are pulled down from multiple sources on the internet. Many sources will slow down or block calibre is too many requests for information are sent at once. About the only way to speed it up is to get a faster internet connection.

Though 5 minutes per book is a very unusual and slow amount of time (normal for me is around 5 secs per book depending on the plugins you have enabled). Are your internet packets being sent by courier pigeon or something?

A manual 'download covers' for a single title take 15-20 seconds here to populate the results. (a few make it in within 5 seconds

). Most time spent seems to be the spinning wheels
My connection speed peaks at over 300KB/s (3.9G Natty Narwhal DVD ISO downloaded in less than 5 hours)
