Motorola: 250,000 Xooms Shipped

http://www.bgr.com/2011/04/28/motoro...-net-revenues/

Quote:
“The Company shipped a total of 9.3 million mobile devices, including 4.1 million smartphones and more than 250,000 Motorola XOOM tablets,” reads the report.
A lot more than analysts were estimating!

Question: are they saying that 'shipped' includes the sell through to end-users? Or is it only to the retailers?

edit: a business site says:

Motorola also says it shipped more than 250,000 XOOM tablets, a number that does not necessarily compare with retail sales.

What is interesting though, is Google always announces how many activations they see a day-they can tell the difference between a XOOM activation and others, and must have a pretty accurate idea of how many are in active use.

I was in BJ's yesterday, and was surprised that they had Xooms on the main aisle next to the Kindles. I don't believe that they carry another tablet on the premises.

I don't remember what they are charging for them. If I go tomorrow I'll look.

Sprint has announced that it will be the second major US wireless carrier to offer the Motorola XOOM Android tablet. But while Verizon is selling a 3G model with the promise of a free upgrade to the network’s 4G LTE network in the coming months, Sprint will be offering the WiFi version of the tablet. If you want to use it on Sprint’s 3G or 4G networks, you’ll need to get a WiFi hotspot device.

The good news is that means you won’t have to pay $799.99 to get the tablet. It will run $599.99 instead.

I went to BJ's today.

Now if I haven't forgotten already, the Xooms were $579.99, and they now also have the Galaxy Tab for $359.99. I hope that's right.
