Managing Library with Calibre
I am running CM7 and bought the Moon+ reader. Right now, I am not seeing any benefit to using Calibre on my laptop to manage my library. It seems easier to just copy and paste the folders into /sdcard/books rather than worry about where Calibre is going to put them on the device.
I tried using Calibre to put my books on the NC last night and it put them into the device's built in memory rather than the SD card. Am I missing something or is there really no benefit to using Calibre? |

As a side note, with CM7 Calibre thinks that the Main Memory is SD card and vice versa. Not a huge problem really, just a mismatch. |

Look for Device Interface Plugins, then select NOOK Device Interface (Communicate with NOOKcolor). When you open that you'll get Customize NOOK Device Interface. At the bottom it says Save Template. You tell it where you want the book(s) to go. Last edited by SCION; 04-28-2011 at 02:39 PM. |

Aha! I had already gone there but after changing the path I only verified the save path on the Nook and not the SD card. It had not changed. (That was pre-CM7) After your tip, I repeated the test and discovered that the plugin path seems to apply to the SD card not the Main Memory. When sending to main memory, it still sends to "/My Files/Books"
Reverse that for CM7, of course. Under CM7 it sends to "sdcard/My Files/Books" instead of Main Memory, regardless of designated path. I wonder why the developer set it up this way. I didn't think that the reversal may be Lionel's problem, I assumed that it was probably the same issue as I had. Thanks for the heads up Scion, always a help. |

I like Calibre but I rarely use it anymore, occasionally to sync new books to my Nook Color, via the web server to my daughter's ipod touch and thats it. It's great to control things but if you don't care, then I wouldn't bother.
Although, I would love for a way to control/populate the bookshelfs from my laptop but I haven't seen anything yet. If I could tag something in Calibre on the book, that would be cool. |

You can blame B&N for that. Kovid said he's unable to code anything for that because of the way they implemented their shelves. Going against the norm on those things. Why they don't offer this necessity within their desktop apps remains a mystery.

I would pay big money for Kovid to create a Calibre for Android that would also read ePubs. It would be WELL worth the $50 or so I would pay
![]() How 'bout it Kovid?? :P |
