Broken Kindle
My Kindle died last week, the screen showed the boy under the tree and a still image of a status bar.
I looked online and someone on Amazon Kindle forum suggested holding the refresh button for 20 seconds and tried this for several days but with no luck. This week I bought a Kindle Paperwhite which I am very happy with but I have apparently lost all the files on my old Kindle. It would be nice to have my old Kindle back - any suggestions? |

From wherever you got the files from to put them on the Kindle.
Have you tried using Kubrick to fix the old Kindle? |

20 seconds may not be long enough for a reset. I've had it take well over a minute at times. Also, make sure the battery is fully charged, preferable using a wall charger.

It should be part of the device specifications, and I'm pretty sure Amazon officially says 15-20 seconds will do it. |

It does say that, and in my experience it sometimes takes longer. It's certainly worth a try.

Even if the kindle won't turn on it's possible if you connect it to your computer you can access the books. Try charging the device overnight, that often unsticks things.

I had this issue once. I got in touch with costumer support and they told me to do things like reset it.
What finally worked for me was manually installing a missing update. I think I was still having trouble accessing my kindle so I gave up and let it be. After it finally ran out of battery, I decided to give it one last shot and when I charged it again, it was working perfectly. I have no idea if that would solve the issue, but you could always try. I haven't had any issues with it since and this was a few years ago. |

I have an experienced long time ago. My KPW1 died, tried to reset nothing happened. I tried connecting to my PC, suddenly my KPW1 restarted. I have no idea what happened, but you can try this.
