Keeping My Kindle Pollen Free

I guess this is my OCD kicking in, but I want to read my kindle on our nice sunny deck, but the pollen is crazy here. Would putting the Kindle in a ziploc while reading do it any harm? Would it sweat in there? Or, maybe I should just not be such a neat-freak about my kindle.

I put mine in a ziploc to read in the bathtub all the time.

But I really wouldn't worry to much about it. Just wipe it off with a cleaning cloth occasionally and you should be okay.

Claritin works great, but it depends upon the age of your Kindle.

The zip-loc bags will work just fine. Go ahead and use that. Just don't spray it with Nasonex.

I've brought a waterproof pouch for mine so I wouldn't worry about it overheating but I agree with abookreader, shouldn't be an issue.

I never realized how messy trees are until I lived in a house in an oak and hickory forest for a few years. The deck used to look like it was covered with yellow snow when the oak trees were dropping pollen. In the fall the squirrels would cut the clusters of acorns down and litter the whole yard. Then there were the constantly falling twigs and branches, and of course the leaves.

Since there aren't any moving parts in a kindle I don't think the little bit of pollen that falls on it while you're sitting there holding it would do any damage, but a zip lock bag will absolutely guarantee a positive outcome.

you don't really notice when you are in the moment of reading. I have used zip-locks on mine on the beach and in the tub.

How long do you think it is safe to keep on in there? A few hours or a day? It can't stay wrapped up like that "forever", can it?

Eewwww. That pollen mess for us got washed away with the last several tornadoes. Tree pollen does not bother me. BUT ... Now we are in full fledged grass season, so my allergy is kicking up.

That tree sperm is greasy and sticky. I personally use the Walmart optical shop lens cleaner and a nice clean piece of old soft t-shirt. Be sure to spray the cloth, and not the screen, to avoid dripd going where drips don't need to go.

I use ziplocks for my Kindle because I take public transit in an area notorious for having lots of rain and often stand around waiting for the bus with no shelter.

However, the moment it's not raining or I'm indoors at home, the baggie comes off.

If you're worried about condensation building up inside, maybe tuck in one of those packets of silica gel to keep things dry?

I've probably had it in there for a couple of hours at a time (up to 4?) with no issues
