Guess I caught you in the middle of updating. so ignore this post. Will leave it here so people can see what I was rambling about.

I was running 0.7.55 and it just told me there was an update to 0.7.56 so I went to the download link it provides but that is http://calibre-ebook.com/download_windows which shows 0.7.54 and indeed links to 0.7.54. So I went to the Sourceforge download and got 0.7.56 and installed it but when I run 0.7.56 it says Update found 0.7.54
