Sony eReader from Borders

Hello,

I've ordered the PRS-350 from Borders back in February and is yet to arrive.
For the past few weeks their website shows that it is awailable and ships in 24 hours however, all my calls return the "still on backorder, and website is messed up."

It is becomming anoying so my question is; has anyone ordered the PRS-350 from Borders.com after the 10th of February, and recieved the item?

Please let me know.
Thank you!

Someone posted here a couple days ago and described a situation exactly like that. They called and Borders fixed the problem, AND sent them a gift certificate for their troubles. I'd say you've got a perfect chance to get some free books. Give 'em a call!

Thank you for the reply elizilla!

The problem is that I keep calling and the answer is still the same; initially item is available then after further checking it is still on back order

The funny thing is that upon asking her to double check with shipping, she claimed that there is no way they can contact the warehouse, so I asked her how does she know that rather the item being back ordered, perhaps my order was overlooked?......no plausible explanation, hence my inquiry here.

I'd stomp down to a store with all the documentation and shout a lot until you get the top guy (they've gone bust in UK I believe, sadly, the one I used to use was great).

If you have to ring them, that might prove expensive, but in my experience, effective if you keep asking for the next supervisor up - but angry e-mails are also often noticed, especially if a consumer organisation is mentioned.

Cancel the order and get a refund. Borders is going to be offering it for $129 the week of Sunday the 27th, at least they sent me an email that says that.

Here's the thread I was thinking of:

The original poster in that thread is in the USA, though, and I see you are in Canada.

Had yet one more 'heated' conversation with customer service today....... same result. I may reorder, let's see what happens on the 27th.

Would buy it here in Canada, however the price is a big turnoff. $199 +tax vs the $135 shipping included from Borders.

I appreciate the input though!

Where are you in Canada? Is a trip across the border a possibility? I live in Southeastern Michigan and the Borders website lists the 350 as "likely in store" at all of my nearby locations...

You were right The-eBook-Reader, item is on sale for $129. Customer service was still clueless, so had to cancel and reorder..... obviously there are some serious issues @borders.

Thanks again!

I don't know if they'll ship to you, but P. C. Richard and Sons is offering the 350 with blue lighted case for $129.97, no tax and no shipping charge.

polly,

As of 10 pm MST, P. C. Richard and Sons is selling both the silver and the pink PRS-350 for $129.97 with free shipping, with no cover offered. The lighted covers are listed for sale at $49.97. Where and how did you find a sale such as you describe in your post? Perhaps it was a limited offer? (If so, I am very sorry that I missed it!)

ETA:
I have just seen your post with an explanation in a thread in the Deals section. For others' info, she says that when she added the reader to her cart, the cover appeared too, at a cost of $0! Thanks, polly, for posting this.

I have a question for MR readers. I have seen online reports of customer difficulties with P. C. Richard and Sons. I can't locate all the complaints and explanations of problems I found previously. (~2-3 months ago.) Does anyone have information or experience relating to this company's reliability as far as fulfilling orders (at all, or in a timely manner), or providing what was promised are concerned?

I can't speak for their reliability, but I placed the order last night and received a UPS shipping confirmation number this morning.

Got mine at the local PC Richards store today (the store will honor the website deal.)
I also used a $15 off coupon from subscribing to their e-newsletter. Nice deal!
I tried to use the order online/pickup at store method but it was a hassle that took half an hour and 5 phone calls to straighten out.

polly, did you order the pink or silver? I put my order in for a pink one yesterday, and haven't gotten a shipping confirmation yet.

ETA: I just got a shipment confirmation as well! I noticed they no longer have the pink ones for sale, so in this case, thank goodness for impulse-buying!

Thank you for mentioning that deal, ApK. I just bought mine! The offer is valid until Monday if anyone else is after a Sony PRS-350 with free lighted Sony cover, plus free US shipping.

By calling customer service, I was able to swap a pink cover for the blue one that automatically went in my shopping cart when I added the Silver PRS-350.

Their systems are behind on issuing $15 off codes for joining their e-newsletter, so I'll have to keep calling to get the extra $15 off (they've promised they'll refund once the codes come through).

So excited to be getting my first ereader once my friends in the US ship it on to me!
