Yound Adult Recommendation for Old Magic Fans

Please recommend me some books:
Old Magic by Marianne Curely is my best book.
And then the Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
I loved the Harry Potter series but hated the Twilight series (I have read it!)
Books I didn't like
- The God of Small THings
- The Kite Runner

---------------
I have have read Old Magic in one sitting, seven harry potter book in seven sitting. I would now get recommendation for some great young adult book which I can read in one sitting.

Regards

If you enjoyed Harry Potter you may like "The Name of the Wind" and "The Wise Man's Fear" The first is over 700 pages and the second over 1,000 so I'm not sure I would say the could be read in one sitting, but are both well worth it. At least in my humble opinion..

Try books by Garth Nix and Rick Riordan.

You might enjoy the Bartimaeus (sp?) series by Jonathan Stroud.

The Belgariad and The Mallorean series by David Eddings. Way ahead of its time and an amazing combination of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter--easy read but full of deep and penetrating tales of magic, gods, heroes, and villains.

First book in the series is "Pawn of Prophecy".

I checked the first couple of books of the Percy Jackson series and the Pendragon series, they're both good, but don't go in expecting it to be the next Potter (I loved the Potter series too). I've heard really great things about the Tiffany Aching series by Pratchett, that's next on my list to read, so they might interest you. It's set in the Discworld universe, but is self-contained, so they can be read outside his Discworld series.

you may enjoy the Obernewtyn series by Isobelle Carmody. I have read the first 2, about to start on the 3rd.

Just finished The Name of the Wind, which was awesome, would definitely recommend that too

Andre Norton

I think that the fantasies of Andre Norton are well worth exploring. The "Witch World" cycle is excellent. The core books in the series are published in two volumes:

Annals of the Witch World comprising three novels:
Witch World: The book which introduces the Witch World universe
Web of the Witch World is a direct sequel to the above and comparable to it in quality
Year of the Unicorn is set in a different part of the same world but concerns different characters. It is really excellent--perhaps better than the first two books.

Chronicles of the Witch World is a linked sequence dealing with the off spring of the main characters in the first two books above. The individual volumes in reading sequence are:
Three Against the Witch World
Warlock of the Witch World
Sorceress of the Witch World

Norton was an excellent writer who could create a psychological depth in her main characters. Amazon have some of her other works available at quite reasonable prices and one can download her main public domain novels free of charge from Project Gutenberg. I have most of her material in hard copy, including the two volumes above. I imagine they are available in e-book format too.
