Straight Answer on Graphics

Can anyone give me a straight answer please. Do any ereaders provide pictures, photographs, maps, drawings, etc. I have a KOBO and the only graphic provided is a blurry image of each book's cover. While the paper version of the same book may contain pictures, photos, maps, etc, the KOBO comes up dry. A real disappointment. Is this true of all readers? I saw a recent post on Amazon where a reader was foregoing the Kindle version of history book in favor of the paper version, simply because no maps available in the Kindle version. Are all ereaders similarly lacking? I would appreciate a straight answer from anyone.

This issue has absolutely nothing to do with the ereader device used.

The issue is with the publishers who create the ebooks and with what content they choose to include in the ebook version. It is, unfortunately, all too common for illustrations and other graphics to be omitted.

The major ebook formats support graphics. The small size of some reading devices makes it necessary for complex graphics (e.g. maps) to be reworked for the ebook editions. Some publishers choose to omit such graphics rather than put any work into altering them for the smaller display.

Yeah, having formatted a few epub/mobi books by hand, I can say that it's typically the formatting that is the problem and not the device.

It seems like a lot of people (even "professionals") simply use automated methods of converting their manuscripts to various ereader formats - with little to no attention paid to images and the steps required to get them to display well on various shaped/sized readers.
