How long have you had your Gen3?

I'm just being curious.

I've had my Gen3 for 14 months, I love it. But, I keep seeing people post with problems that occur with their devices. Broken screens, electronic/battery problems, etc. So what I'd like to know is: how many Gen3 users are out there in MR land that have problem-free machines, and how long have you had your reader?

Is anyone willing to praise their Gen3? I know I am

I've had mine a couple of years - no problems, and still delighted with it .

I've had mine since February 2008, so 30 months already. It's one of the oldest models, with 64MB, and haven't had a single problem, other than a few crashes and a couple of times that I had to remove the battery.

I've just sold mine. Bought in May 2008, it was one of the first models with 512MB RAM. No problems whatsoever in the two and a bit years I owned it.

End october 2008. The only trouble was the one time I found the screen broken. (Something had hit my bag).

Why'd you sell it, Harry?

About 19-20 months for me.
Only problem I had was when I let it fall and broke the start button.
I'm really glad I bought it, it's been really worth it.

Because I had about 8 or 9 eInk devices, which really is a little excessive, so I'm having a "clear-out" and getting rid of all the ones that I'm not regularly using. These days I find myself primarily reading on my iPad.

Bought mine in June '08, and paid £283.52 inc. case, all unseen at the time of purchase - and then bought another a few months later for my wife. I used mine for the first time in a while recently, and it's still running fine - no problems at all.

@HarryT; may I be vulgar and ask what yours fetched? No problem if you'd rather not say, just idly curious - I'm going to ordered a Kindle3 and was wondering if the CyBook was worth selling at all, TBH.

Many thanks, Peter.

Not at all - it's a very pertinent question. I got £117 (+shipping for it) on eBay, which I have to admit was a lot more than I was expecting. I would have been happy with £50!

That's a little over US$180, for those who prefer $ prices.

Wow, I'm impressed! I'd have said more like £50 with the case would be more than fair, but hey, good for you! That's your Kindle 3 paid for, lol!

Many thanks, Peter.

A new Gen3 (Gold edition : USB cable, USB power adaptor, cover, headphones, 1 GB) goes for 270€ on Bookeen's web site :

Where did you see it for more than 300€ ?

I got my Cybook Gen3 in Feb. 2008.
Had to do a soft reset only once in all that time. No problems otherwise.
I'm still in love with it and use it as my main eBook reader.
