The Open Library, lots of free e-books

Though I'd write a tip about the Open Library http://openlibrary.org/ This Internet Archive project is a huge book catalog with both free e-books ( about a million) as well as paper books. The whole system is Open Source and they welcome all who want to edit. You can also get access to even more ebooks from various Public libraries (not Overdrive) via their lending system.

Thanks for posting about this. I did join months ago, but didn't find it very useful at the time. Perhaps the site/system/number of books available has improved.

How does one 'gain access to even more ebooks from various Public libraries (not Overdrive) via their lending system'? Are you referring to joining your local library, or is this an avenue to accessing books outside your local library system?

Is this the same site I found but couldn't work out how to download anything ? Called the Internet Archive, with a logo of a generic sort of classical building within "Internet Archive" as a sort of half frame ?

How do I download ....please..?
