Miller's Kill, NY is running out of residents to off ;)

The insidious Bezos and his Amazonian minions have once again used their infernal mind control device to snare me. This time, though, I escaped.

So Amazon offers me a free preview of Julia Spencer-Fleming's upcoming Millers Kill, NY murder mystery, "One Was a Soldier".

"Com'on Honey, this one's on the house. Just a taste."

Decent. The first book in the series was only $2.99. Also decent.

"The first one's a bargain, dearie."

Before I knew it, I'd read all of the released novels. The subsequent ones were $7.99.

"See, that's not so expensive."

Spencer-Fleming, Julia
"In the Bleak Midwinter"
"A Fountain Filled With Blood"
"Out of the Deep I Cry"
"To Darkness and to Death"
"All Mortal Flesh"
"I Shall Not Want"

Just how many murders per year are there in a small town in far-up-state NY?

Their cunning plan fell apart when I thoughtlessly reached for the next one at $11.99. If it had been out, I would have paid the premium. Alas for them, "One Was a Soldier" doesn't ship until 12 April.

I'm saved! Bwahahaha. You've been foiled, Evil Bezos. Ok, delayed until mid-April, anyway.

Regards,
Jack Tingle

Her books are available from kobobooks: http://www.kobobooks.com/search/sear...encer-Fleming& and it appears also at very reasonable prices just as Amazon. Good news, too: "Once Was a Soldier" is listed as $9.99 ... not yet out and already down $2!

Millers Kill, NY is theoretically "just across the lake" from where I live and part of my ancestor's stomping grounds. So, I'm intrigued.

Good news on the price. I wouldn't go there, if I were you, though. There seems to be a lot of murders. Just like that little Maine coastal town, Cabot Cove. Or Shakespeare, AR.
