302 Unable to update 302 firmware

In september I've updated my Pocketbook 302 to the 'leaked' 15.3b (beta) firmware. Now I want to update my reader to the 15.4 firmware. However I'm unable to do this. When I do the required steps (copy SWUPDATE.BIN to the root of the SD card), connect the reader to a powersource, power it on while holding the two big buttons on the side and releasing them when the screen says 'Firmware Update' nothing happens. I don't get the message 'Press enter key to start update'. I do get the 'Firmware update' message, but all I can do is wait and do a hard reset (after which I still have the old firmware)

I've tried several SD-cards, I've used a freshly formatted card, I've put the update on the internal memory (without and with a memory card), reformatted the internal memory, used different power sources (USB and power adapter) and tried several other key combinations, all without success.

Unfortunately my guarantee has expired (waiting for the promised updates....) and I'm going on vacation in a few weeks. Does anybody know of a different way to update the Pocketbook 302?

I don't remember copying the swupdate.bin to the SD card. I just copied the .zip file. I also didn't plug it in before starting the update process but I don't think that made a difference since I had to plug it in to continue. The rest of the update process was the same for me as what you described.
