Directory folder support?
Heya all, with the Aussie dollar being so good at the moment I'm in the market for another reader and thought the Sony 650 sounded good.
My only issue is I have heard the Sony's don't allow folders in the directory so you end up with just a mega long list of books. Is that the case? How do all you Sony owners find the navigation/menu system? Easy to use? Intuitive? Thoughts much appreciated. Cheers, PKFFW P.S: Also, any ideas on the cheapest place to purchase one that will post to Australia? Last edited by PKFFW; 04-10-2011 at 08:26 AM. |

If you really just can't live without folders, you can install PRS+ on your reader. The developers of that OS tweak have made it an executable, so all you have to do is plug your reader in to your computer, run the exe file, and follow the instructions. PRS+ retains the collection feature so that you can have the best of both worlds. The navigation systems are very intuitive and the touch screen makes it super easy to use. I find their navigation system to be the best of any of the readers on the market. |

Thanks for the reply Polly. Sounds like the Sony is my choice then.
Btw, any idea if installing the PRS+ OS voids the warranty? Also, any tips on where to buy? Cheers, PKFFW |

Cool.
Looks like the PRS650 is just about impossible to get now anyway. Can't find any place that has one to sell. Anyone have any ideas besides overpriced ones on ebay and amazon? Cheers, PKFFW |

Look at 350, 950. If you ask me, 505 is also still an option, having in mind, that difference between last gen/prev gen screens is about 5-15% (subjectively) and doesn't at all feel like 45% (amazon's claim). It also comes with cover (which saves you 30+ bucks). On the other hand, it doesn't have touchscreen. |

Hi kartu,
I thought about the 350 and 950 but 5" is too small for my liking and the 950 is just a little too expensive. I had heard about the 650 sometimes being on sale for $200 and with the Aussie dollar being so good right now that makes it even more affordable. Oh well, will just have to wait till more stock comes out or take it as a sign that it wasn't meant to be right now. My Bebook still works fine so there's no rush. Cheers, PKFFW |

Start rejoicing, PKFFW, because the PRS-650 just appeared in the Sony Store -- in both red and black versions!

Hope you picked one up in time, because the Sony Store's out of it again.
If you missed it, then I'd recommend being patient and checking at least twice a week. Clearly, the model's not completely gone. Edit: They currently have the red model back in stock, if you're interested: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921666257815 Last edited by Prestidigitweeze; 04-13-2011 at 09:56 AM. |

Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough but I'll keep my eye on their site and I'm sure I'll get one eventually.
