The permission denied is an OS level error message. It sounds as if you need to run a CHKDSK command to check the Kindle file system for errors.

I am soo stoked!! Got it to work by
1. copied mybooks from literati to hard drive
2. reset to factory defaults
3. copied folder back to literati
4. ejected device
now all new books show, old books gone, and calibre recognizes it again
was able to send book to device and it was there!!!
thanx

barbieofborg,

I am experiencing a similar problem. When the literati is plugged into a computer via a USB cord the only thing displayed on the literati screen is a message that the USB cord is plugged into the computer, and the device should be ejected prior to disconnecting. Thus, as I look at your four step solution several questions come to mind.
1. Are you copying the “mybooks” from the literati drive as it is displayed on your computer?
2. Do you press the reset button with the USB plugged in to the computer? Probably, “Yes.”
3. Do you then copy “mybooks” from your computer back to the literati “disk” in the My Computer list under “Devices with removable storage?”

Hopefully, you will be alerted to this message, and have an opportunity to respond.

Many thanks,

fogstratus
