How Many Available eBooks in Your Library?

I did a quick check in my public library's OPAC for eContent (both eBook and eAudiobooks) and they have over 1000 ePubs available for checkout. That doesn't count the ones that are currently checked out. Not bad for suburban Louisiana. They include a lot that doesn't interest me of course but they do have The Stand, which I have been wanting to reread and vol. 19 of the Anita Blake series, which I haven't read yet. Those are checked out now, though, to me.

I am also a member of 6 other libraries here in SoCal.

Call me a VERY happy camp...uh... (e)reader!

BTW, I just don't get why the Kindle is so popular... actually having to *buy* books??? EEK! Lots of $$$.

I belong to Seattle Public Library, Pierce County Library, and Tacoma Public library. Tacoma and Pierce County have about 4,000 each and I believe that Seattle Public Library has somewhere between 11,000 and 15,000 ebooks. These are a combination of epub, pdf, and mobi.
I have a kindle and ipad. I read the epubs and mobi's on my kindle and if the pdf's convert nicely I read them on kindle, if not I read on the ipad. That doesn't happen often. Saves lots of money, and yes I delete the book after reading it.

Well, do they get baby books while waiting to be checked out or how does that work?

Thanks for the welcome. I didn't know Library OD could be read on Kindle... requires stripping DRM, I assume (?)

Doing a limited search, it seems that the Clark County Library has 4627 ebooks. And, for what it's worth, 8162 audio books.

Yeah, reading the library books on a kindle does require removing the drm unfortunately. I tried reading them on my ipad using overdrive, but I just couldn't get into it as my ipad is heavier, the lcd screen and the fact that by the time i want to read, the battery might be too low. I resorted to stripping the drm to read them on my kindle. I know it is controversial, but I try to abide by the rules as much as I can. I only check out a book that I can read in the three week time frame, and I delete it after i am done. I know that this can be abused by some, but I want to read my books on my kindle and don't want yet another device to have. I also strip the drm from my purchased kindlebooks so I can back up to my computer and dropbox. I trust amazon for the most part, but I want to be able to use my books say if amazon went down, or stopped supporting kindle or i wanted to go to a different device. Probably not going to happen, but you can never be too careful, and I don't want to trust my backup to anyone but myself. This is off topic, but it is just my opinion.
