Hi, new author here
I'd like to get to know some other fellow Kindle and Nook authors on this board. Something I really like about this place is that it's always very active, yet not too chaotic that you lose coherent track of what's going on or what people are talking about.

Thanks for the welcome, fellow writers! What kinds of writing do each of you do?
I am flexible between genre fiction and literary, though I prefer to write artistic literary material, I noticed that ebook readers predominantly go for the genre stuff. So, for pure exposure sake, I find myself having to write genre/action in order to hopefully gain an audience who would be willing to then give my literature a look. Anyone else feel they're in a similar situation? |

Does "literary" fiction usually sell better than "genre" fiction? I'm not convinced this is only an ebook issue.

Hi Joonbug1.
My primary genre is Fantasy, second is Sci-fi, I've done a little thriller and a couple of . . . something resembling kids stories. It's all mixed in with a strong dose of odd. |

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! I appreciate it.
I'm interested in knowing what has been the most pleasing/rewarding as well as what has been the most challenging aspect you have personally experienced in trying to get your ebooks to find its audience. @queentess: Yes, you're correct, but at least Literary fiction still scores big on Bestsellers Lists, unlike with self-published/ebook literary fiction novels. For these, the big sellers are almost exclusively genre fiction works. @John Carroll: I like any dose of "odd!" |
