Hi and help please

Hi! My name is Dick. I have a new Kindle and am trying to get my books converted to the calibre software on my pc. The problem is: I am 76 years old, and apparently, not tech savvy enuf to be able to accomplish the feat. I have downloaded the calibre software and connected the Kindle. The conversion is supposed to be easy, but NOTHING works for me. Hope this makes sense. Help please

Your description of the problem is a bit broad, Dick. Could you answer a few questions to help pin down the problem?

- when you start Calibre, do you actually get the Calibre window showing, with the icon menu at the top (starting with a book icon that says "Add books")?
- When the Kindle is connected, is the 7th icon from the left an eBook Reader (white Kindle) called "Device"?

If both of the above are true, then the Kindle is attached and recognised by Calibre. Now all you have to do is click on "Add books", and select a book or books from your hard drive to add to the Calibre library. Once you have done this, you select the book from the library list, and click the "Send to device" icon.

Let us know a bit more about your situation, and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there happy to help.

Good to have your company, Dick. Hope you get this sorted out. And Orlok's basic advice above is sound. If you still hit snags, though, I'd suggest you try posting the specific problems in the Kindle- or Calibre-dedicated sub forums here for more response. Meantime, good luck and very best wishes. Neil
