Hi
I was given a Kindle for Christmas and have just found this site.I have installed Calibre on my computer and am very pleased with it now I have learned to use it.Looking forward to finding lots of hints and tips and of course free books

Hi cherrybee and welcome to MR. There is a lot of Kindle expertise resident in these parts. What you pick up here will make you appreciate it even more. The same goes for Calibre.

Thank you for the warm welcome.I am in the uk and downloaded the mobi pocket guide but am very concerned about whether I will be able to use it as I understand that its based in Canada so I may not be able to use free books because of copyright laws ??

I cannot remember the thread where I found the link but the mobi pocket guide had a list of thousands of books for the kindle but now I understand I cannot download any of the books as I live outside of the US and it will be a copyright issue

As you are in the UK, check the author and published dates ...

the author's copyright in most published works lasts until 70 years after the death of the author, if his identity is known; otherwise until 70 years after the work was first published.

The books in the Mobileread Library should be Ok for you ....
