HTML import loses author's name
When I import an HTML file with the title and author specified using Netscape's Composer (yes I know it's old but I know how to use it and it works great otherwise), Calibre captures the title just fine but the author shows up as "Unknown." Where can I put the author's name so Calibre will see and recognize it?
For that matter, what is the best format to create the original document in to hold onto both information (such as title and author) and a linked TOC? Mobi will be the output format, if that matters. Thanks for any help! |

That worked. Composer used the format
<meta content="Mary Jones" name="author"> which Calibre wasn't seeing, so I changed it to the <meta name="Author" content="Mary Jones"> format from the post you referenced and re-added the book and the author's name shows up fine in Calibre. It no longer shows under the "author" field in Composer itself, but since the only reason I use Composer is to come up with a file for Calibre to add and convert, that doesn't matter. Thanks! |

Still a bit strange as normally the order of the attributes within a tag is not significant.

It uses a regex rather than parsing the html for performance reasons, so order matters.
