F and J keys

On typewriters, and later on computer keyboards, they have a raised ridge on the F and J keys. This is so that touch-typists can find them without looking (F and J are "home" keys, where your index fingers start, and from there you can find every other key without looking.)

So why do Kindles have a raised ridge on the F and J keys?

I'd hate to try and touch-type on the Kindle keyboard though

somehow I don't think I could do my usual 65 words/minutes on it.

Not at all; I touch type on my Kindle, just as I touch type on the soft keyboard on my iPhone. Your brain just has to get used to the spacing of the keys.
