Helpwith cover and other stuff
I have owned the nook color for about a week. I am new to the whole e-reader market. Honestly I am not sold yet.
My first issue is the cover. I have an industriell Easel. I like it in many ways, I like the clasp, I like that it folds back and I like that holds the nook firm. But it is kinda heavy. Plus the edge is a tad wide so I end up holding the cover itself. I am thinking of getting the industriell normal version. I am not sure though as I don't know that I would ever use it in book mode. Also I am not totally sold on this whole e-reader thing. Reading on this device is a tad weird. The glow I don't enjoy. I am the kind of guy who read paper back and didn't own a book light. I also feel the weight is kinda much for just reading. I like to read one handed so this adds more weight than I like. I am wondering if I would be happier with one of the e-ink ones. Honestly I thought the extra capabilities of this would be nice, but I don't use them. Thought? ![]() |

As far as the glow goes, change the background colour to sepia or gray and then lower the brightness. My brightness is barely on again.
I really considered the easel, but I went with a one that had the spine on the side because it felt more booklike. It is heavier than a paperback. I've gotten used to it. |

You should try lowering the brightness on the Color one first. There are a bunch of threads in this forum about good settings for the Color Nook for reading. But if you still cannot find a good setting for yourself, the Classic is probably the way to go, especially since you say you don't use the other features of the Color. Reading on the Classic is very much like reading a paperback book. |
