Hi there everybody. my name is Mike. I live in Walsall,England,UK. I am retired and love reading American detective novels,Coben, Harstad,Parker,Crais,Grafton,Hillerman,etc. They are much livelier and grittier than your average Miss Marple British thriller.
Can anyone recommend any American authors of the genre that I might like?

Hi Mike and welcome to MobileRead. Have you tried Literature Map website here http://www.literature-map.com/ You enter the name of an author and a page opens with his name in the middle and similar authors arrayed around him. The closer the author the more like him he is.

Also, have you read Martin Amis The Night Train. In this novel, he tries his hand at American style detective noir and does a very good job.
