In Bruges (gaining in popularity over time)
Just Another Love Story
Kick-ass (funny)
Memories of Murder (detective thriller....david finch-esque)
Oldboy (twisted revenge thriller)
Red Belt (david mamet does UFC)
Sex and Lucia
Spartan (david mamet does political thriller)
Sunshine (danny boyl does high scifi)
Thirst (one of the best vampire films ever made)
Thumbsucker (quirky)
Wristcutters: A Love Story (quirky indie romcom)

They're the only two from that list that I've seen and I liked both of them. Saw Kick Ass on a plane, so I'm pretty sure bits would have been edited out so I think I'll get it as a DVD to check it out again soon.

yeah, to be perfectly honest I don't know that i have heard of a lot of the others. I'd be interested in that first Nick Cage one, as I usually like his stuff. I don't do Netflix, redbox, or my computer for that matter, so usually I just stumble across the obscure on the satellite offerings

"In Bruges" was cute - I watched it just after it came out. Just watched the trailer for "Enter the void" and while it didn't seem intriguing in itself, the superimposed recommendations from the various magazines were much more superlative than usual. Added to my NF queue, might be worth a shot .

Hmmm....did I see the same In Bruges as you? I'm not sure 'cute' is the right word

We saw Brick a few years ago and it was not bad. I'll have to add some of these others to our Netflix queue.

Assassins can be (puppy-dog) cute too ya know . I guess I'd revise it to (for want of a better word) "bitter-cute" . I did find the whole relationship between the two assassins (and their boss too for that matter) a little awww-inducing.
