My name is Jackie King. I'm a full time writer and live in Tulsa, OK. We had 14 inches of snow today. That may not sound like much to you folks in Chicago, but it's a lot for us Okies. My interests are books, movies, and writing.

You may have already discovered the great Kindle forum, so have you checked out all the sticky threads at the top of that forum? They are full of additional information like the "Links Every Kindle Owner Should Have" and the "Links To Amazon Website: User Guides, Updates, Customer Service - And More!".

MobileRead also has a great free library of mostly PD books that have been beautifully formatted and proofed by some very dedicated MR members. Check out "E-Book Uploads - Patricia Clark Memorial Library" and look in the Mobi/PRC section for books for your kindle.

You can explore the MobileRead wiki and read about DRM (Digital Rights Management), ADE (Adobe Digital Editions), and E-book formats.

Welcome. I went to first and second grade in Tulsa and have many relatives living nearby. Last time I was there, the trees had all been ripped apart by ice storms.

Lived in T-town for about 5 years. Wish I could ditch L.A. and be back there, 14 inches or not.

Never had a blizzard when I was there, but the once-a-year ice storms were probably the biggest drawback.

Thanks again to those who have welcomed me, and thanks for the suggestions on links. We broke all weather records here in Tulsa this year. Very weird weather, even for us. On Thursday a.m. our temp was 12 degrees below zero. Real temp. not wind chill. Tomorrow the weather guys say it may get up to 70. So you can see why weather is such a big topic in this town.
