iPhone supplies foil eBay profiteers

An interesting article on The Register web site reports that the usual eBay profiteers seem to have been foiled by an abundance of supply of the Apple iPhone, with eBay listings by the hundred failing to meet the greedy $1000 reserves of the sellers. Lots of iPhones are being returned to Apple stores by the foiled speculators.

Haha! Teach those friggin skalpers a lesson or two. If only all other ventures ended such as this, we wouldn't have to deal with over-inflated prices on eBay. You should never have to pay MSRP, let alone over retail! Guess these people thought they had the next Elmo doll or Furbie (remember those?).

The comments on the Guardian article are rather mind-boggling. I never thought I'd read a defense of scalping as "poor working class folk just trying to get a break."

It is rather amazing the lies humans can weave into their world-views, isn't it?

What they're doing is pure free-market capitalism, but I don't know too many truly "poor working class folk" (yes, I do know quite a few) who can scrape up the money to go out and buy a dozen iPhones.
