Lighthouses of the World
I love lighthouses and always visit them if I'm in the area.
First up is Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. Located at the mouth of the Columbia River in the SW corner of Washington. Quote:

My senior year of college i actually went on a 2 week camping tour of all the lighthouses of North Carolina. We're famous for Cape Hatteras, but we've got plenty of others and its always a great experience.

This is “Roter Sand”, one of the most famous lighthouses of Germany, situated in the North Sea near Bremen/Bremerhaven. We visited it on a boat tour during our summer holidays two years ago.

I know a photographer via another forum whose work I quite like, from Maine. I know he's a few local (Pemaquid) lighthouse photos which are pretty smashing. You can find a few in this particular gallery:
http://www.bobwhitmire.com/page8/page3/page3.html but a browse will likely find more (and you'll get to see some other nice photos on the way ![]() Cheers, Marc |

I used to leave in the shadow of Gibbs Hill Lighthouse in Bermuda.
As I'm sure you are aware, Bermuda was, and still is, in need of these things. |

Bonavista, Nfld
This is the back side of the original lighthouse in its red and white glory, and the ugly steel tower that replaced it. A beautiful place to visit in the north-east corner of Newfoundland, lots of whales, puffins, and icebergs in season.
More Newfoundland pictures at www.pholynyk.ca - one of my best vacations ever. |
