Booker Prize judges given E-readers
From the BBC;
Booker Prize judges sent e-readers Although Amazon is mentioned in passing at the end of the article, the type of e-reader they will be using doesn't appear to be specified. This must mean that all Booker Prize nominees will be available as e-books though I guess. |

Not necessarily. "Publishers have been asked to submit" the nominees in ebook form, but they don't have to comply. Though with the rising tide of ebook sales, preparing a digitial version of a new release seems like a no-brainer.

Would anybody care to bet which judge will come out with "I won't read on anything but real paper" first? |

I had just read this in the newspaper. I think if I had to read all those books I would also be demanding electronic editions! However, now the publishers have already prepared an electronic version it would make sense (and be a good publicity move) to offer the same version to the public.

It would be a coup for Sony to supply the e-readers to all the judges and provide publisher assistance to small publishers who may not yet be in the ebook space. But I fear this sort of thinking outside the box is not on the agenda at Sony these days.
