Zune HD Ebook Reader

Recently, a Zune HD Ebook reader was released, and it wasn't accepting books from any source but feedbooks. A discovery was made - calibre puts the metadata in HTML format, and the Zune needs it in XML. So, it leads me to the question, does anyone know of any converters that put the metadata in XML (for instance, converting a MOBI or LIT ebook to ePub with XML metadata)? This would be very handy. Thanks!

Also, I was told to move it into this forum.

What makes you think that calibre does not put the metadata in XML format? The epub standard mandates that everything is stored as XML (or in the case of text related fields as xhtml which is just a specialsed xml format).

I suspect that more detail will be required to get to the bottom of what you are actually stating as the problem.

The reader picks up everything from feedbooks but nothing else when you select add source. I have determined that this is because the books off of Feedbooks all have the metadata in XML, while Calibre makes it HTML.

metadata in epubs created by calibre are in XML, specifically in OPF 2.0 as the epub standard mandates.

Are you, perhaps, talking about the Calibre content server and not the metadata inside the ebook files themselves?

I had not thought that he might mean the Content server! If he is pointing at the HTML version of the Content Server pages then it would not be surpising that HTML is delivered . The xml version of the pages is likely to need the /opds (or /stanza) appended to the URL.

That sounds like it would cause it, because it's not accepting the eBook server, weather I host it on my website or through calibre (on my own website I was just putting the ebook in a folder with the metadata and trying that way). Sorry for being new with this, but what exactly should I do to resolve this issue? Thank you.
Also, everyone on zuneboards has the same problem, and we're hoping it's not just a broken piece of software (the zune e-reader). Anyone who has tried to run it through calibre has been unsuccessful. And Calibre2opds doesn't work either.

The first thing to confirm is whether the issue is with the Content server or with the book files themselves.

Are there any good URL's that talk about the Zune e-reader? With some good reference site it should be possible to resolve this issue.
