Downloading a 1.5 MB newspaper I experience on a 1.2 GHz X86 CPU under Windows 7: 1. Real time of appr. 6 minutes 2. CPU-time for calibre (version 0.7.40) 3 min 30 sec 3. A download amount of at about 15 MB ( Internet access with 2 Mb/s) (that is ten times the size of the newspaper!) I cannot imagine that those resources are really needed |

Which thread? The GUI or the worker thread? That doesn't sound too bad. I can't speak as to the downloaded data, but Calibre is written in Python, which isn't the most efficient of languages as far as processing speed and memory footprint go, from what I know. |
