Reading this forum - fascinated by the discussions. I own a Symbian phone and am determined to get my nature books on it so I always have it with me. I don't like to carry a lot of stuff, and on a hike I already have a camera.
That is the one thing I haven't seen much of here. Doesn't anyone like observational astronomy?
I found a lot of old books mentioned in "Starlit Nights" by Leslie Peltier, and they were free. I found Google ebooks much more informative than any other site.
I'm confused about that ebook reader. The site says it is a Barnes&Noble company but it has a lousy selection of books!

Welcome to Mobileread ....

There are some members who are interested in Astronomy, one of the Mods - for instance.

Which ebook reader do you refer to? The Nook ?

@GeoffC- gorgeous cat. I have 3.
This is the web page for the Ereader.
http://www.ereader.com/
It says right on top that it's a B&N company. I remember seeing that B&N bought one of the readers but can't remember which one. No info as to what format or anything. Not the caliber of books on the main site.
I don't read much fiction. It got boring. There's only so many plots in the human condition. I do like sci-fi, and will read books on a subject I like. I've enjoyed "Sojourner" and "Roving Mars". I also like geology and photography. I'm trying to get star charts on the Nokia C6, but no one is writing for Symbian. I might have to do it through some computer software and convert. I can run some Palm thru Styletap, but it doesn't run full screen. I like birdwatching and would also like a bird identity book on the phone.
BTW, there are more independent ebooks on photography than anything else when you search.

Welcome to MR! Not sure to which e-reader you speak, but BN does have a decent selection for the Nook (or so I'm told :-)

Good to have your company, CarpetShark. You're talking about the Barnes & Noble Nook and the backlit Nook Colour devices. You don't need to buy books from Barnes and Noble itself, though, you can buy wherever you like (I'd suggest downloading the free Calibre Library software to use with it if you decide to buy one -- it's the best). Good luck and best wishes. Neil

I know I can buy wherever I like, but I want to know about this Ereader. It's not the Nook.
It's software you can download - but it doesn't give the format. It also doesn't state that the books are B&N, but up in the right corner, it does say it's a B&N site. I'm trying to figure out what they are marketing, and who to? I included the URL in an earlier post.
