Kindle Page Turning Problem

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing a strange problem with my kindle-3.
When I hit the page Next Page buttons (either left or right) the screen goes two "pages" forwards. If I then hit the previous page button it goes back to where I want it to be.

Here is an example : I am at Locations 318-21, hit NEXT now at Locations 328-34, hit PREVIOUS and I am at 321-28.

This seems to be happening on all my books. Amazon downloaded , mobleread.com and gutenberg project books.

I've had the Kindle since December. It just started doing it yesterday. I went camping (without the Kindle) Friday and Saturday. When I started reading Sunday afternoon it was doing it.

I recharged it sometime last week, right now it appears to be 90% charged.
I've also restarted the Kindle.
the Kindle is in a TrendyDigital case. I've taken it out and it keeps doing it.

Has anybody else seen this happening?
Anybody have a guess of what is going on?

ps my wife says this is a good thing, skipping every other page will let me finish books quicker.

that's a new one! I think a call to kindle tech support is in order! let us know what the result is!

I hate to suggest this, but could you just possibly be a bit heavy-handed on the button?

I haven't had this problem so far with the Kindle, but I do get it sometimes with computer mice.

When you say you RESTARTED it, did you actually do the 40 second hold or use the Menu item that RESTARTS (Home screen, Menu, Settings, Menu, Restart)?

I held the switch for a long time... then it rebooted. (saw the boy reading a book)...

I never called Amazon with this problem.

I took it out of the case thinking maybe that was the problem... My case has 4 pieces of elastic holding the Kindle in. I fiddled around with it whenever I had a few minutes. Restarting, changing fonts, stuff like that. Nothing I tried seemed to work. It was very consistent. I would read a page, hit Previous then hit Next and would be on the next page. This worked for about twenty minutes without fail.
Then I put it back into the case. As soon as it was back in the case things started working correctly. I read for another 20 minutes last night and 10 this morning and had now issues.
Why it was weird and why it started working again is a mystery to me.
If/when it happens again, I'll call support.
