My nook is refub serial 10009.. so its old hardware, but it came with 1.4 firm and I upgraded last night to 1.5

I like to root it, but can figure out what is the best way to do this, can anyone point me in the write direction?¿

Thank you!

The only thing you really need to worry about is the hardware version, and it sounds like you're good. The currently installed firmware doesn't matter, since it will be over-written. The nookdevs softroot ROM is just a copy of the same B&N 1.5 firmware you're running now, but with some customizations and additions.

When you follow the softroot instructions, what you're doing is you're rolling back to the old 1.0 firmware (wiping out your existing 1.5 firmware), then upgrading back up to a rooted version of 1.5.

You will probably want to remove the Nook firmware updater file after you do your root. This will stop the new (and last) defective 1.6 firmware from downloading and trashing your root. See here and here.
