PRS-505 Vegan cover for Sony PRS-505

Just to prefix this: I'm not looking for a debate, joke thread, or snarky comments as I know this subject seems to bring that out for some weird reason.

I'm looking for a good looking cover to protect my PRS-505 that is not made of leather, sadly it seems like there aren't very few makers of PRS covers much-less of the non-leather variety. Does anyone here know where I can get a good cover the flips open like a book, doesn't have one of those frame stands, and looks good.

Anyone happen to know if there is anything out there happen to know of any such thing? one would think that there would be plenty of offerings out there not made out of leather given the wide variety of alternative materials.

I'm pretty sure that the original covers were not made of leather, if you have lost yours perhaps you might be able to find a replacement on ebay.

I'm guessing that you want a book like cover, not something like this?

Somewhere here is a thread where someone made a beautiful cover out of an antique book. Glued the pages, carved out the shape for the reader, lined it in velvet. Like in the old movies when the villain would hive a gun in a Bible.

It looks like a book, because it is. I planned to do this but never did. I found instructions for making the book online.

Just find a hardback with a cover that you like and do it. Maybe practice on The Davinci Code first, so it won't matter if you mess it up.

The glue in old books was normally made from animal products, so presumably this would make it unsuitable for a Vegan.

You can get hemp covers for the more modern Sony Readers, but they don't seem to available for the old 505.

Glue was made from ground up animal bones - when horses were commonly used for transportation they were normally sent to the glue factory when they died. Today, most non-synthetic glue is made from the hides, hoofs, and bones of cattle.

Try looking for Proporta covers... personally I think they look terrible but others have said they like them, more importantly for you, they're made of synthetics...

There are certainly neoprene covers available, but they are protective sleeves, rather than "book"-style covers.

Have you looked at a site like Etsy? If you can't find one for the exact model you have, the artist may be able / willing to make one for you, and then you can be very specific about how it is made.

I second this. A quick search brings up this store http://www.etsy.com/shop/dobeeubags which seems to be willing to customize, and this one http://www.etsy.com/shop/sandmanquil...ion_id=7720788 which states explicitly that they'll make it for your model, and this one http://www.etsy.com/shop/freemoment?ref=top_trail says to inquire about other models. These all look vegan.
